Chinese Arrival Bicentennial Anniversary-

The Republic of Trinidad & Tobago celebrates a Public Holiday in recognition of the Bi Centennial of Chinese Arrival on their shores. This historic event was precipitated by the British introduction of Indentureship to replace labour on plantations after the so-called Emancipation of Afrikan Slaves in the Caribbean.

The British East India Company's vessel "FORTITUDE" brought 200 Chinese male passengers to Trinidad in 1806.
